How to become a Rue Driver
Step 1 – Hold a full UK driving licence
You'll need a valid full UK driving licence before applying for your taxi driver licence.
Step 2 – Apply for a taxi driver licence
Apply through the Cumberland Council by completing the required application forms, background checks, and licensing process.
Step 3 – Complete your medical assessment
To carry passengers safely, you'll need to meet the DVLA Group 2 medical standard.
Your medical assessment can be completed by:

Proactive Physical Health
Most first-time applicants will need a full medical examination before receiving their licence. Medical renewals are generally required every three years after the age of 45 and annually from the age of 65.
Step 4 – Arrange taxi insurance
Before accepting bookings, you'll need suitable taxi insurance to protect yourself, your passengers, and your vehicle while working.
Step 5 – Start driving with Rue
Once your application has been approved, simply log into the Rue Driver App, accept bookings, and start earning on your own schedule.
